Macie Jo White

FEATURED STORY

Posted 4/8/25

Macie is a vibrant, joyful, and spirited three-year-old whose big personality is matched only by her even bigger smile. She brings light and laughter everywhere she goes, with a love for all things silly—especially Cocomelon, making messes, and listening to her daddy sing her favorite songs. Her ability to light up a room continues to amaze everyone who knows her, especially her proud parents.

But Macie’s story is one of extraordinary resilience. At birth, she endured a traumatic start to life—experiencing 25 minutes without oxygen or blood flow to her brain. She required extensive resuscitation, and the outlook was grim. Doctors were uncertain if she would make it through her first night due to the severity of the brain injury caused by hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE).

Against all odds, Macie began her fight in the neonatal intensive care unit, where she spent 62 days surrounded by wires, machines, and an unshakable determination to live. Since then, she has been diagnosed with epilepsy, cerebral palsy, and dysphagia—challenges that impact her daily life, yet never define who she is.

Every single day, Macie shows the world what true strength looks like. She is a fighter, a light, and a living reminder that even in the darkest moments, hope can still shine through. Her journey with HIE continues, but so does her joy, her love, and her ability to inspire all those around her.

Happy third birthday, Macie!
